Back-to-school support

Many parents struggle year after year to provide the school supplies their child needs. Today this is hard even for better-off families, let alone those in more modest circumstances or caring for several children.

We launched our stationery and back-to-school support four years ago. It differs from the Christmas collection or food distribution in that packs are put together after talking with parents, or even directly with schools — so children receive exactly the tools their school and class ask for.

We fill almost complete schoolbags; parents only need to add a few small extras at most.

Before the back-to-school collection we always publish what stationery and equipment is needed. You can join with an in-kind gift or a targeted donation — we match the packs to what the children actually need, not a ready-made list.

In an earlier programme we filled schoolbags for 76 children, helping them start the year with the same chance as any classmate.
